The Brief
The client had a number of classic cars that he wanted drawing as they were soon to be sold and he wished to have them drawn as something to remember them by. There was another unusual request which was to add a bicycle and a vacuum cleaner into the drawing (you can find the explanation in the accompanying youtube video). I also added another car on to the very end of the drawing as the client had been unable to fit all the cars into a photograph as there was simply not enough room.
The Results
This took 40 hours to draw, and I had to add the classic Mini on the very right hand side and draw it in to scale by hand and guesswork. I had separate photos of the Mini so I had everything I needed to ensure I could make the car look correct and fit in with the rest of the cars. I had to change the lettering on the truck so as to represent the client’s details on the commission, as an extra personal touch. All I needed to do to finish this picture off was to add shadow to allow depth to be shown. I also kept in some of the foliage and brickwork from the house on the left hand side to add perspective to the drawing.
