The Brief

This is the second drawing in the bee set (you can see the honey bee drawing in the portfolio section on the website). I drew this in the style of the illustrations that you see in old wildlife books. I think some of those illustrations in those older reference books are works of art in their own right and wanted to produce the same sort of result here.

The Result

A relatively short time to complete this drawing. Around 6 hours work in total and I enjoyed every minute of it. There is something very calming about drawing any animal but particularly wildlife. I suppose it is because it makes you think of being outdoors and I find I am most relaxed when I am drawing wildlife.
