Classic Indian motorbike
The Brief
I had been wanting to draw a motorbike like this for a long time. I had drawn bikes before but not one with all the chrome, reflection, paintwork, and detail that you see here. This was a real treat to draw. I could really indulge with the detail to the finest degree here and didn’t have to worry about any time limits.
The Result
The result was a drawing of a bike that I completed when I was only 19 years old. I am still so proud of this drawing, that to this day I take this along to events to use as an example piece. There is so much detail in this picture that I often look at it and see something that I didn’t notice before even when drawing it. I look at this drawing and know that if I draw a motorcycle or a car, that this is the picture it must measure up to, it is my benchmark when drawing bikes and cars. If they don’t at the very least match the quality of this, then it is not good enough, it is as simple as that. This drawing represents for me, the point where I knew for certain that I had become a master of my art. My mother in law saw this for the first time a few months ago in the flesh. Although I have known her for 14 years, she had never seen this. My wife showed it to her. She looked at it, held it close to inspect the detail on it and exclaimed in a low tone “Bloody hell!” in astonishment. That is when I know a drawing is perfect.
